About the publication
Why we track old houses and lower prices together
Our mission
Old character and affordable entry, in one search
Old House Lovers is an independent publication that shares listings of historic homes and lower-priced houses for sale. We are not a brokerage and we do not work for listing agents, so each property is presented on its own terms. We focus on endangered historic craftsmanship and accessible homeownership, and we keep listing notes transparent so readers can tell the difference between charm and major structural work.
Our criteria are simple: architectural integrity, an honest condition review, and realistic entry pricing. Browse the archive to see how these homes are described.

How we evaluate
Three checks before a listing appears
01
Architectural integrity
We look for original features and historic character that remain visible, such as woodwork, windows, roofline, and façade details.
02
Honest condition review
Visible age, repairs, and needed work are noted plainly, so charm is never mistaken for a move-in-ready finish.
03
Realistic entry pricing
We include homes that are lower-priced for their market, keeping listing details clear about what a purchase may involve.
